That's Rubbish

All of Australia's dingoes may be descended from one South-East Asian 'rubbish dog' who arrived over 5000 years ago.  So what do we know about dingoes and how are they different to domesticated dogs?



To finish level five you must:

-read to chapter 36
-complete the activities and the challenge

Level Five

1.  Research the dingo online or in the library.  Copy and paste the questions below into a new Google Doc.  They will guide your research and help you to do the challenge.

4.  Make a detailed sketch of a dingo. 

How are dingoes different from domesticated dogs?



How are the dingoes ancestors believed to have arrived in Australia?  Where were they from?



How is dingo breeding different from domesticated dogs?  What do you know about the dingo life cycle?



How do dingoes hunt?  What problems did they create for white settlers in Australia?



What influence did the introduction of the dingo have on the existing native ecosystem?



What is the dingo fence, where is it and what is its purpose?



Write some other interesting facts about the dingo.







Write a fact sheet

Write a fact sheet about the dingo.  

  • Use subheadings like the examples you read earlier.  
  • Use the information you gathered from researching.  
  • Photograph your dingo sketch
  • Publish the fact sheet and sketch to your blog.
